Small group food focused tours to Italy. We are based in the beautiful town of Lucca, in northwestern Tuscany. The week includes visiting a farm in the mountains of the Garfagnana where we’ll watch pecorino cheese being made and be treated to a lunch made by the family. Perhaps we’ll travel to the same region and spend the day with the bread maker for the area where we’ll make our own loaves and sample a variety of dishes prepared with farro grown there on the farm.
Another day we’ll have a “hands on” cooking class in a our apartment led by a delightful and talented local chef. Learn to make an appetizer, pasta, a typical Lucchese main course and a dolce-maybe biscotti or panna cotta.
We’ll spend a day in Florence visiting some of the best food shops in town, snacking along the way . No visit to Florence is complete without a stop at the Mercato Centrale where we’ll sample a variety of local specialties.
The area outside of Lucca produces wonderful wines and we’ll enjoy a tour and a tasting with a light lunch.
