Let Me In!

One of the many things that I love about Italy is that just about any which way you turn, you’re bound to see something interesting and often times, it might just be simply beautiful.

I spied all these gates, except the last one, while taking a stroll around one of the tiny towns tucked up against the hills just outside of Lucca.

Some of them guard property with lovely homes, others look long forgotten and probably hadn’t been opened in years.

As much as I would love to push open one of these gates and wander around, they are meant to keep us out!

This last photo was taken looking into a lovely secluded courtyard inside the walls of a b & b I once stayed at in Lucca’s centro. I had made it through the gate to the inn, but not into the garden!

  1. Gorgeous photos! I’m missing Italy…a LOT!

  2. enjoy your blog and your travels aroun Italy. Can you remember the name of the B&B you stayed in, in Lucca? I am planning a trip there soon.

    • Paula-that B & B was Locanda S. Agostino and it was gorgeous. Priced a little lower and also very nice was B & B Anfiteatro where I stayed in May. Both are right in the centro.
