As luck would have it this weekend Lucca was the setting for an exhibition featuring the wines of the area. We took a vote and it was unanimous that this was an event that we would all be happy too attend. We paid our fee at the entrance to the grand building and received a glass and a holster that you wear around your neck to hold your glass. We knew we were in for some serious tasting! There were about 70 or 80 wineries represented, most showcasing four to five wines each. So much wine, how to decide which ones to sample?
We swirled and sipped and I have to admit that I got to the point where I also had to toss the wine-there’s only so much that one can sample in the middle of the afternoon. I’ve always loved Italian wine and this was the perfect way to discover some new wineries. Many of wines were available for purchase and we left laden with bottles, destined for drinking this week. Come fall, Panini Girl and guests will be off to visit some of these great local producers.
