Plotting My Return

There’s a lovely wall that’s still intact all around the city. It’s the perfect place to take a stroll after that long lunch. Or you could take your bike. Or like our amico (friend) G. did back in May, you could run the wall in training for a marathon.

And did you know that they are small canals running through some of the neighborhoods? In our quest to find parking we drove up and down this charming lane. Luckily we never found a space, since we discovered that it was resident only parking and we would have gotten a ticket! Our friends B. & G. weren’t quite as lucky…

And if you feel the urge to go into every church that you pass, you’ll be seriously busy here-there’s about 100 churches in this very town. This one with its gorgeous facade is San Michele.

Did I mention that this is Lucca and I’m working on a plan to get back there?

  1. I look forward to seeing you there soon.

  2. Ciao! Just stumbled across your blog. And boy oh boy are your posts beautiful 🙂

  3. Welcome back! We drove past Lucca a few weeks ago on our way to measure a garden further up in the mountains. I’ve never been inside the walls yet…
    Hope you get there soon!
