Il Borgo Delle Camelie

We were a little late for the festival, but nevertheless we saw hundreds of camelia bushes-just not in bloom. Sant’Andrea di Compito is known for its annual celebration of the camelia. It’s hard for me to imagine hundreds of people parading through this town of 250 trying to catch a glimpse of this flower, but nevertheless, each March the town hosts a celebration in honor of this plant.

  1. Hi,
I’ve been to the camellia festival and it is great. Each garden in ths tiny town is filled with flowers. You should try to go one year.

    • Debra-so great to meet you. I wish I had known about your town while we were over there. What a wonderful part of Italy. I will keep up with you on your blog! I am hoping to be back there before too long…
