I saw a segment on our local news the other night about an area restaurant cooking exclusively with locally grown vegetables. I am lucky to live in an area where the weather makes it possible for farms to grow year round. Not only can restaurants take advantage of this, but so can the rest of us. I visit my local farmers’ market every Saturday and if I needed to shop on another day, there are markets every day but Monday in the surrounding towns. I buy most of my produce this way, but I have to admit that there are a few things that I get at the grocery store.
One of the exciting things about frequenting the weekly market is going there and getting inspired for upcoming meals. Instead of going with a list, I love scoping out the stalls to see what looks good that day. Autumn is finally here at the market (even if it was 80 degrees today here at the coast) and I can’t wait to change course in the kitchen. Don’t those potatoes look inviting?
