Don’t you just love a recipe that you can throw together in mere moments? I found this simple one over at Food 52 and they got it from Torrisi’s Italian Specialties in NYC. I love a good chutney or topping to serve with roasts or on sandwiches and this sauce surely fits the bill. I immediately slathered it on a turkey sandwich, but I can see it anywhere you want a little kick-in eggs, soups, stews. I’ll warn you this is slightly addictive-I kept spooning more and more on my sandwich.
Spicy Sauce
4 ounces B&G hot cherry peppers (or other pickled hot peppers), stemmed
2 ounces roasted red peppers
2 ounces crushed tomato
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 teaspoon chile flakes
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon sugar
Salt to taste
Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender. I made it in a blender-fewer parts to clean than the food processor. If you like it spicier go ahead and add a little more chili flakes or hot peppers. This keeps for months in the fridge.

Do you leave the seed in the peppers?
Hi Gail-yes, I left the seeds in. I just spread this on a chicken sandwich-delicious. I’m going to have to make a new batch!
Thank you – will have to make – I buy conditments like this all the time – but looks so good – will be making this coming weekend
